Fight Blight

The Wall Street Journal notes that the real estate boom has moved to "distressed cities" like Oakland and Baltimore, where housing in blighted neighborhoods is priced to move. One way they are trying to jumpstart the gentrification is to employ an age-old tactic: bring in the gays!
Tracy K. Gosson, executive director of Live Baltimore, says gay people are among her targets. For most of them, she says, Baltimore's weak public schools aren't a big issue. "They really value historic architecture, which we have a lot of," says Ms. Gosson.

And I'm sure that another quote appearing later in the article, "These people are insatiable," is about homebuyers in general, not about the gays in specific.
