Whip It

As a former yearbook editor-in-chief, I have to say that this story coming out of Boynton Beach, Florida about, Robert Richards, an African American student being selected "Most Whipped" and appearing in the yearbook with his Caucasian then-girlfriend Melissa Finley isn't racist. It's just tacky.

Categories like "Best Eyes" and "Most Likely to Succeed" are bad enough, but "whipped" is short for "pussy-whipped" and any yearbook advisor who lets that slip into the final edition (which is then recalled and the offending photo covered with a sticker) is a moron, whether or not the picture stirs up thoughts of Roots.
