TimeOut - Baghdad

Commentary here on Beaverhausen tends to avoid schmalz. While personal experiences and recollections occasionally appear, the blog has never been the kind of confessional diary you sometimes find elsewhere (especially at LiveJournal). But on the occasion of a close friend's imminent departure for Iraq, I'd like to take a break from the regularly scheduled wonk-snark to wish him interesting but safe journeys and a happy return to DC some 11 months hence. Hasta mañana, amigo.

P.S. Tim has suggested he will begin keeping a blog account of his adventures in Baghdad. If he does become a citizen-journalist in Iraq -- like many soldiers and civilians before him -- I have high expectations for some excellent observational wit and wisdom. I'll monitor his progress and if permitted will add the link to the Bhaus blogroll.
