Let's Just Cancel the Declaration of Independence

I had missed, back in December when civil unions became legal in Britain, that one of the commentators editorializing in favor of the new law was Prime Minister Tony Blair. (As if there was nothing to cover besides Elton John's nuptuals.)

Meanwhile, yesterday, a committee of the Virginia legislature reported out the state's constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage on the very first day of the 2006 session. (The resolution, which enshrines an already-existing SuperDOMA in the state's charter, was approved last year but needs consecutive authorizations to go to the voters in November.)
