Here We Go Again - In a court hearing yesterday, groups seeking to overturn California's ban on gay marriage got a sympathetic judge, a half-hearted defense by the state's attorney-general, and the usual blather from social conservatives. Sounds like the stage is set for Massachusetts all over again -- only this time in a state that already has the functional equivalent of civil unions. So as activists in deep blue states get greedy, one wonders if further red state backlash against a second Goodridge will only widen the civil rights gap between gays in progressive states and those left behind in less enlightened parts of the country.
