Book of Judges - After a hearing today that lasted only a few hours, a Louisiana judge has thrown out that state's newly enacted ban on gay marriage and civil unions on a technicality. Republican District Court Judge William Morvant determined that the constitutional referendum was invalid because it asked voters to bar both forms of relationship with a single yes/no question. Upon my cursory review, it appears that combining multiple questions is an actual defect under local law, so this is not just some "activist judge" undoing the popular will. On the other hand, I have no faith such complex legalities will play out honestly in the media.
