Vocab and Poetry - The word-of-the-day for September 4 is "transmogrify," an idiom always connected in my mind with Calvin & Hobbes. But given what a boozy bunch our D.C. friends are, perhaps this Bobby Burns quotation is more appropriate:

See Social-life and Glee sit down
All joyous and unthinking,
Till, quite transmugrify'd,
they're grown Debauchery and Drinking...
