Domestic Agenda - As time has passed to assess the reaction of registered domestic partners in California to the news that AB 205 will likely be put into effect January 1, 2005, many couples have decided to opt out. "In July and August, more people dissolved their state domestic partnerships -- 202 and 111, respectively -- than in any month since January 2000, when the registry started." And that's because they're worried about losing their benefits from entitlement programs or because of a concern that they might lose half their assets in a domestic partnership dissolution. I'm just trying to decide whether we need to put a rush order on a wedding cake for December 31, 2004.
