Boys Like Us - As Slate's daily metanews roundup notes, the Sunday Post runs the first article in a four-part series about growing up gay in rural America, calling it "an excellent portrait of a deeply religious and resolutely anti-gay world that is no doubt alien to many Post readers." I might add "and to Bhaus readers." This morning's tale follows Michael Shackelford, a 17-year-old Oklahoman, as he struggles to find himself in a difficult environment that is both familiar and hostile. The story is cautiously optimistic -- if the high school in Sand Springs, OK can have a gay-straight alliance, then things must be going the right direction. It also has it's light moments:

He doesn't exactly know how to be gay in rural Oklahoma. He bought some Cher CDs. He tried a body spray from Wal-Mart called Bod.

Oh, the humanity.
