Money Money Money Money, MONEY! - On a topic that is near and dear to Ben's heart, the Congressional Budget Office yesterday issued a mighty definitive-looking study regarding the potential budgetary impact of recognizing same-sex marriages. The conclusion of the CBO's "non-partisan" review? They estimate that "on net, those impacts would improve the budget's bottom line to a small extent: by less than $1 billion in each of the next 10 years." (Emphasis mine.) While this certainly doesn't help the bigot brigade in their anti-marriage crusade, don't get too excited. What flows into government coffers comes out of your (and my) pockets.

Ben, when you get back from New England you'll have to unpack the many assumptions used in the study, such as the guess that "about 0.6 percent of adults would enter into same-sex marriages if they had the opportunity."
