Internet vs. TV Viewing and Socializing

Ever heard of the Stanford Institute for the Quantitative Study of Society, Ben? Their key claim to fame seems to be putting out reports on how the Internet is affecting daily life. Their most recent study, cited by the NYTimes, claims that each hour of time spent using the Internet reduces face-to-face contact with friends, co-workers and family by 23.5 minutes, lowers the amount of time spent watching television(!) by 10 minutes and shortens sleep by 8.5 minutes. Bah, I say. Just ramp up your multitasking.
