Desperada - In advance of this evening's DH episode, the NYTimes' Virginia Heffernan gives us a lesson in "suburban gothic." Tracing the subgenre back to John Cheever, and covering the likes of American Beauty and Six Feet Under along the way, Heffernan says the ABC series is only the latest to describe a world where secrets are carefully guarded, and "being happy is more important than telling the truth," while curiosity and "damning knowledge" seem to lead to inevitable catastrophe. Along that line, be sure to tune in tonight to find out if Nicollette Sheridan's slutty realtor Edie Britt - the show's "oracle" who "sees through the lies and speaks the truth" - gets bumped off.
