Time For Ben to Upgrade to Series2? - TiVo is finally reaping the benefits of getting the FCC chairman hooked on PVR technology. Yesterday, the Commission approved a new feature that will let TiVo users "download broadcasts to a computer and send copies of recorded shows over the Internet to an office or home or to a small circle of friends." Michael Powell's blessing comes over the objections of the NFL and the MPAA (my next door neighbor here on K Street). Read more about the "Remote Access" technolgy, set to debut this Fall as part of TiVoToGo, on the FCC website here and here.

And in related news, 321 Studios, the embattled creator of DVDXCopy software, has ceased operations after losing several rounds of litigation over copyright infringement. Since it required central authentication, I wonder if my copy of the program still works?
