Love Won Out? - Columnist E.J. Dionne thinks it is possible that Cheney's pro-gay comments this week were a Rovian smokescreen to direct public attention away from the GOP's hard-right platform. But he believes there may be a "more benign" explanation: "if you know and care deeply about someone who is gay or lesbian, you simply have to reject anti-gay bigotry, just as Cheney did." Hmm, how's that for a political plank?
