"Merlin v. Virginny"

It comes as no surprise to B'haus readers (especially after items like the last one) that Maryland offers a much friendlier legal environment for The Gay than Virginia. A story this week in Baltimore City Paper -- tipped by one of my Yahoo Groups -- relates how the distinction is leading more and more Va. homos, especially those who with kids, to move north. In the article, one lesbian couple makes the pilgrimage from the unfriendly confines of Norfolk to the "Garden of Eden" that is Baltimore. (As if!)

Of course, neither state comes close to beating the District, though it's fair to say I wouldn't want to raise my kids here.
