License to Sue

SCOTUS has declined to review a Fourth Circuit case holding that South Carolina license plates bearing the slogan "Choose Life" violate the First Amendment because abortion rights supporters were not given a similar forum to express their beliefs. While other circuits have ruled differently, the case now remains controlling authority in the 4th Circuit, which covers, among others, the Commonwealth of Virginia. Perhaps, then, Del. Scott Lingamfelter (R-Prince William) should reconsider his proposed bill to enact a Va. plate supporting heterosexual-only marriage, before some activist judge puts a stop to such nonsense.
