Overcompensating - In today's Times, Frank Rich looks at the curious effect that being gay-phobic has had on national Republican Party under George Bush. In short, he says, they are trying so hard to be butch that you have to wonder what they're hiding. (There really is something kind of nellie about most born-agains, isn't there?) I for one would love to see Dan Quayle come out of retirement to bitch-slap Carson Kressley a la Murphy Brown, but honestly I wonder if Carson wouldn't get the upper hand in that fight. Shudder. What a scary thought.
