Valet of the Dolls - "Face it, Sacramento has hit big-city status. The definitive corollary being, the more exciting the city, the more things to do, the more people streaming in, the less available downtown parking." That gem comes from today's Sacramento Bee article on the dearth of parking in the downtown and midtown areas. In fact, our fine Mayor Fargo observed: "You know, cities that don't have parking problems aren't interesting cities." I'm sorry, but doesn't that statement kinda sound like she think that by creating traffic problems, Sacramento will necessarily be more interesting? Perhaps that explains the parking lots at Arden Fair and the Natomas Home Depot...it's a mayoral conspiracy to manufacture bad traffic patterns and inadequate parking spaces. They'll probably adopt a similar plan if the proposed new downtown arena for the Sacramento Kings goes through: 1 parking space for every 1,723 event attendee.
